Best places to travel to in Central/South America?
I might be heading to Mexico for a week in December, my friend is from there.. and I was planning on keeping on travelling for about 3 weeks or longer afterwards. I’m a student and would be backpacking.. any tips, comments, suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks 
Within Mexico there are many places to explore; i suggest Chiapas and Oaxaca. Also you can find many cheap cabins right on the beach at Tulum. If you are flying to Mexico city you could take a bus to Oaxaca, then Chiapas end then to Tulum.
There are many great places to visit in Central America, but I would suggest Costa Rica first. It has access to both the Caribbean and the Pacific ocean. It has cloud forest, rain forest, volcanoes, beaches, etc. It is very well organized for all sorts of travelers.
South America is huge and has many countries to visit; it could take you several trips to cover the region. Anyway some suggestions include:
- In Peru, Lima, Cuzco and Machu Pichu;
- Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo in Brazil;
- Isla Margarita in Venezuela;
- Catragena and Leticia in Colombia;
- there are many places to visit in Argentina, but I oly know Buenos Aires, which by the way is one of my favorite cities in the world.
