Traveling scam?
i entered into a sweepstakes last year and they said i won the 4th place prize of a travel package. Its for “we tour america” they said its a $3,700 value but all i have to pay it $500 so i dont get taxed by “Uncle Sam” at the end of the year. They wanted me to pay the $500 upfront. Does this sound suspious? I told them to call me back tomorrow because “i forgot my wallet at home” I want to understand if its a scam before i do anything.
It’s a scam! If you really win something, you won’t have to pay to take the trip. The sponsors of the trip should have submitted a form to the Treasury Department for tax purposes, and you WILL have to pay taxes on your winnings when you file your yearly tax return. Don’t fall for this scam; unfortunately you didn’t win anything.
